In the lead up to the UFC 202 grudge match, McGregor had threatened to ‘kill’ Diaz in the octagon, following his defeat to the Stockton fighter last March. Both McGregor and Diaz had their moments through the intense 25-minute war which left both fighters a bloody mess and had fight fans asking for a trilogy.

Eddie Alvarez had his eyes on the victor of the UFC 202 main event between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz, but it looks like someone else had their eyes on him.
“It’s hard for my fans to come over here for fights and I understand that. And I got that all on tape, just to set it up, not to make excuses cuz I got all that video’d up”.
“It was not easy…” No, highly unlikely. The most likely options would be for McGregor to be looking at some film roles which would no doubt be easier for him to land given the UFC’s new WME-IMG talent agency owners.
“I’ve got to talk. But yeah, I thought I won the fight”, he said.
“He keeps on walking forward, he took every shot, I dropped him multiple times”.
“His face was opened up and he was still coming at me”. He’s a hell of a competitor. “The whole lot of it brought out the best in me, forced me to look at myself truly”.
Aside from the multitude of great fights, the decision outcomes at UFC 202 paved the way for some even better matchups to be made down the line. McGregor, though, has right-of-first-refusal for a bout against Aldo. I believe if we do it again, it will be at 155 – maybe for the belt.
“They really messed up my strategy going in on some things I wanted to do and get done”, Nate said. “We’ll see what happens”.
Like his fallen foe, the 28-year-old will not be satisfied until their rivalry is played out in a third, decisive battle. He was happy to reflect on standing big on a big night.
“When I fight Nate again, it will be at 155lbs”.
Whatever the case and whatever McGregor decides to do next, one thing McGregor needs to do right now is to take an extended break away from fighting and lick his wounds from the brutal fight last evening. “I don’t know”, White said on SportsCenter on ESPN.
“I don’t think they want to do that”, he said.
On a night when he confirmed his status as the biggest draw in combat sports, it’s clear that McGregor is far from done.

“We’ll see. We’ve got a lot to talk about, but I’m in lovely, attractive position now and that was built on hard work”, he said. I’m about to go to [Light], Las Vegas, shout out to Light (laughs).
