Pittsburgh Steelers losing Ladarius Green to retirement? Tight end address concussion issues

Tomlin said last Monday that he did not have any players on his roster now under the concussion protocol. Green sat out one game last season with a concussion before ankle issues sidelined him for two more. “I’m 26. Don’t think [I am] retiring anytime soon”.

Several reports over the course of last week or so have indicated that Green was, or now still is, in concussion protocol.

Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin has said little about Green, who’s yet to practice with his new team after signing with the Steelers in March, but last week insisted that Green remains on PUP because of the ankle injury.

But Green denied those reports and his agent’s words Saturday.

Headaches, though, are keeping him away from suiting up with his teammates, according to an August 11 NFL.com report in which the tight end’s agent said his client’s ankle is fine. “So he didn’t say nothing to me about that”.

Green also said he had no idea why his agent said his ankle was OK. There is still stuff I have to work on. Green’s status is still completely up in the air, but he did say he is “confident” he will play this season. However, there is still no target date of Green’s return from his injury and it’s not clear if he can suit up for the Steelers when the National Football League season opens next month. “We’re still taking it day-by-day like I said, so there’s really no timetable to tell right now”.

Green said his ankle is “still weak but it’s getting a lot better”.

The Steelers have until the first week of the regular season top place Green on injured-reserve or the regular season PUP list. His ankle surgery was planned, but Green told reporters in May he expected to be ready for training camp.
