‘Inside Amy Schumer’ isn’t canceled, comedian tweets
“Doing stand-up and focusing on writing more for the next year at least”.

“We aren’t making the show anymore”, Schumer posted, in response to reports that one of her writers, Kurt Metzger, had been fired after making controversial comments about rape. It came in defense of fellow comedian Aaron Glaser who was banned from a few NYC comedy clubs after several women accused him of rape.
Amy added: ‘Kurt does not work for me. Instead, she said that during the show’s tenure, it has been “very positive” to have an opposing viewpoint within the writers’ room. “There are no writers for it”. Amy eventually tweeted that she was “saddened and disappointed” by Metzger’s tweets, and noted that he was no longer a writer for Inside Amy Schumer because the show is on hiatus. The comedian was a writer on the most recent season of Inside Amy Schumer. Metzger received a lot of guff from Schumer fans online after making inflammatory comments about victims of sexual assault.
Amy stayed tight-lipped on the situation, but was heavily pushed by fans to speak out.
It presents an odd contradiction in her messaging: she finally condemned Metzger’s comments after receiving pressure on social media to do so, yet she’s blocked numerous people who exerted that pressure.
“Kurt’s my friend. I love him”, Schumer says. “This is devastating. She has failed women”. “His words are not mine”.
The end of the show could come as a surprise to some, given it was granted a fifth season renewal in January.
“I would love to refocus the energy and the attention on the real problem, which is about rape”, she tells US journalist Charlie Rose during an appearance on his show, before concluding: “And what’s consensual and what’s not”.
Request for comment from Comedy Central was not returned.
Meanwhile, Amy has just released her first book, Girl With The Lower Back Tattoo.
