Olympia police spokeswoman Laura Wohl says Rowe approached the couple Tuesday night and without speaking, stabbed the 47-year-old black man in the abdomen and also knifed his 35-year-old white girlfriend. But police say he hid his violent intent behind a stony face until he was close enough to strike.
Daniel Rowe, who had recently been released from Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla, walked up to the two and yelled a racial slur before stabbing the man, who was African-American, in the hip. Police say he may have been among the ranks of the state’s homeless, who flock to Olympia for help on their way to Portland or Seattle.
A kiss between a black man and white woman enraged a self-proclaimed white supremacist so much that he stabbed them outside of a Washington bar without any provocation.
“At one point he stated that he knew we couldn’t hurt the black groups on the street so he wanted to let us know that he takes care of them for us”, police said in a statement obtained by KOMO.
After the attack, Rowe ran off as stunned onlookers dialled 911. Rowe hit his head on the ground and was knocked unconscious. Their injuries were not life-threatening.
“The suspect spouted white supremacist sayings and made many, many references to racist things”, Wohl said. Rowe also referred to Donald Trump rallies and how he wanted to “take out” all Black Lives Matter protestors.
Lower said that Rowe’s behavior only became stranger as the police put him in the back of a patrol vehicle. “This black-and-white couple was simply expressing their love for one another”.
Rowe was convicted in 2008 for second-degree robbery, the Olympian reported.
Rowe told police he had come to Olympia in response to anti-police graffiti that had been written over the weekend.

The local Public Defender’s office said he has not been assigned counsel yet. According to police, the white supremacist praised Trump and discussed attacking Donald Trump protesters (particularly those affiliate with Black Lives Matter) as he was wrestled into the back of the police auto.
