Lochte takes ‘full responsibility’ for Rio scandal
“It was my immature behavior”. “That’s why I’m in this mess”. Lauer asked Lochte in the interview. More was set to be aired during the Saturday night broadcast of the Games.

Lochte also said that in leaving Rio soon after the incident, he “let my team down”.
Lochte, 32, has not indicated whether he will compete at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. “I left certain things out, and I overexaggerated some parts of the story”, Lochte said in the interview.
“It’s how you want to make it look like, whether you call it a robbery, whether you call it extortion, or us paying for the damages – we don’t know”, he said.
Lochte, in a portion of an interview with NBC’s Matt Lauer that aired Saturday, continued backtracking from a story that he initially described as an armed robbery. We were held. There was a gun pointed in our direction. But Rio police have pulled up evidence showing that the swimmers actually drunkenly vandalized a gas station bathroom, that security guards then tried to stop them before they got into a cab, and that it was a security guard who pulled a gun on them when they were being belligerent-Lochte was allegedly “very angry” and “intoxicated” at the time.
Ryan Lochte said he was robbed at gunpoint, which police in Brazil now say was a lie. “All we know is there was a gun pointed in our direction and we were demanded to give money”. “You’re striking a deal to pay for what damage you’ve caused so that he doesn’t call the police, and this doesn’t become a bigger incident”.
It’s just so amusing to me Ryan Lochte, if Phelps wasn’t around, would probably be the most decorated Olympian of all time (he already has 12 medals), and yet, this titan of athletics spends his time making up fake words, dyeing his hair, starring in reality shows and lying to cops about stuff he did when he needed to urinate while drunk.
“After Jack and I both tugged at him in an attempt to get him to sit back down, Ryan and the security guards had a heated verbal exchange, but no physical contact was made”, Bentz said in his statement.

While the guys originally claimed their vehicle was side-swept, and then they were robbed at gunpoint by the driver, it was eventually revealed that what really went down was totally different.
