It is obligatory upon the United Nations to persuade the Indian government for peaceful settlement of the long-standing Kashmir dispute, she said.

This should be an eye-opener for India, which has been trying to hide behind the excuse that trouble in Occupied Kashmir stems from terrorism and cross-LoC infiltration and that Kashmir is its integral part.
She said concerted efforts are underway on bilateral and worldwide levels as Pakistani envoys at capitals of various countries are trying to highlight Indian atrocities and miseries of the innocent Kashmiris.
Branding the foreign policy of the Narendra Modi government as “knee jerk diplomacy”, CPI-M general secretary Sitaram Yechury said the Centre should immediately send an all-party delegation to Kashmir and start talks with Pakistan to address the issue of terrorism. “The dialogue has continued and we hope the dialogue continues but for the dialogue to work, both sides have to be interested”.
When asked about any conditions India had put before them for starting dialogue, the spokesman said Pakistan proposed that Kashmir should be the focus of the talks. “The region should not go to proxy wars”.

Even as India and Pakistan are engaged in a bitter confrontation over Kashmir, forces guarding the borders of the two countries have made a decision to open more lines of communication.
