Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan is all set to be awarded the Chevalier de L’Ordre Arts et Letters (The Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) by the French government, as part of France’s premiere award.

Veteran actor Kamal Haasan on Sunday dedicated the French honour of Chevalier Award for him to his “admirers and audience” and said the prestigious recognition humbled him.
His roles as an ageing freedom fighter in the movie “Indian” and a woman in “Avvai Shanmugi”, besides donning ten diverse roles in the 2008-hit “Dasavatharam”, have been well received by the movie-goers.
Meanwhile, the Vishwaroopam star, who bore the fracture after he slipped and fell in his Chennai office, will resume shoot of his upcoming comedy trilingual Sabash Naidu. “I’m proud to be in the company of more deserving forerunners like Satyajit Ray (Legion of Honor) and Sivaji Ganesan (Chevalier). I thank His Excellency, the Ambassador of France in India, Mr Alexandre Ziegler, who intimated me of this honour”. S P Muthraman, who directed Haasan in 10 films including “Sakala Kala Vallavan’ (1982), said the actor is a scientist of Tamil cinema”. Also, it was her way of telling me to use it as a crutch and not flaunt it with pride like a crown.
“My journey has not been alone”. “Teachers and admirers are bounded around me”. With motherly care they have applauded my every little step forward. “I dedicate this award to my admirers who gave me the tenacity of objective to pursue this day and moment, my Arts and Letters”, he asserted.

Haasan adds that he misses his parents, but is grateful that he can share his joy with the elders and youngsters in my family.
