The Pak-Afghan border at Chaman remained closed for fourth consecutive day Sunday with North Atlantic Treaty Organisation supply and cross-border trade also remained suspended.

“The Friendship Gate at the Pak-Afghan border has been closed after the flag burning incident”, a senior security official in Pakistan said.
Every day between 10,000 and 15,000 Pakistani and Afghan traders cross into Chaman in Balochistan and Vesh Mandi in Kandhar province of Afghanistan.
Reports suggest that Afghan demonstrators snatched the national flag from a Pakistani protester who stood close to the Friendship Gate and set it on fire.

The closure resulted in long queues of trucks and lorries on both sides of the border. Construction of the gate was completed in August.
