Tyra Banks Is Now a Professor at Stanford University

Banks knows a thing or two about branding, having launched her own cosmetics start up, production company and charity in addition to hosting The Tyra Banks Show and creating the highly successful reality series, America’s Next Top Model. In the class, she is said to be teaching pupils on how to use all forms of old and new media to showcase their business acumen as well as how to handle press exposure as a business leader. The course is titled “Project You: Building & Extending Your Personal Brand”, and will also be led by Stanford lecturer Allison Kluger. She’s also noted that while the course will be fun, she’s not messing around, people.

Banks, 42, shot to fame as a model before coming up with the idea for America’s Next Top Model – a television format that has been copied in countless countries around the world. Site co-founder and CEO Kathryn Minshew told Fortune previous year that Banks is passionate about finding “growing businesses that were relevant to young people”.

Banks visited the prestigious graduate school in California this May to contribute to a Women in Business event. In 2011, she talked to Fortune’s Pattie Sellers about enrolling in an executive education program at Harvard Business School.

“My career and my business has gotten to where it is because of my gut”, she said at the time.
