#UFC202: Diaz ‘a hell of a competitor’, says Conor McGregor

So the attention after the bout immediately went to whether this rivalry will turn into a trilogy, and it appears it will based on what the fighters said in the octagon.

McGregor is revelling in the moment, telling the media at the post-fight press conference how he, yet again, proved the doubters wrong in the most important fight of his career.

“Conor has to defend his title or make a decision to give it up or whatever he wants to do”, White said. “I’ve got to figure out what’s next but right now, I don’t know what’s next”.

“This time I want to do it at 155 pounds, I came in at 170 with him as the bigger man and I overcame that adversity”.

Following the fight, McGregor made the statement that a third fight is now necessary to find out who the better fighter truly is.

Following the fight, Jose Aldo, who was defeated by McGregor in 13 seconds in December past year in a featherweight bout, tweeted: “Where you at @TheNotoriousMMA?”. Every single fighter doubted me.

When Alvarez met up with PhillyVoice in Kensington, his old neighborhood, a few weeks back, the North Catholic grad was eyeing a November fight at Madison Square Garden against the victor of Saturday night’s UFC 202 main event between McGregor and Nate Diaz (20-11). “Then we rescheduled, two-year round-the-world deal with that boy and then he stepped in and I beat him in 13 seconds”, McGregor said via Fox Sports. Some might not be this sport, so we’ll see.

The former Bellator champion also labelled McGregor vs Diaz 2 a “freak show”. They said I was done and it certainly lit a fire under me.

That’s a pretty overt reference to a superfight with Floyd Mayweather, a match up McGregor recently claimed was in the financing stages. The UFC granted their meal ticket his wish and instead of causing a logjam at featherweight, they arranged an interim title bout between Aldo and Frankie Edgar.

The grudge match went to five rounds in front of a baying crowd in Las Vegas, with the judges scoring the close fight in the Irishman’s favor. He wants the next fight to be in the lightweight division and Diaz is a natural 155 pounder. “He’s a businessman, so let’s see what happens”. “They’re gonna get me out where they can, but it’s all good though….”
