Army chief hits boundary as Afridi bowls
Earlier, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, who graced the event as guest of honour, opened the 20-over-version of the game by shooting an unassailable boundary off all-rounder Shahid Afridi, the skipper of Army XI.

In reply, it was Boom Boom who stole the show and entertained the crowd with his superb performance to ensure Army returned victorious against the star-studied PCB XI with a comfortable six-wicket victory. Officials of Pakistan Army and Pakistan Cricket Board were also present at the event.
General Sharif later met the Pakistan team players including Test Captain Misbahul Haq and Ahmed Shehzad and exchanged views with them.
According to the tweets of the ISPR chief, the proceeds from the Azadi Cup cricket match would be utilised to support the Internal Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Federally Administered Tribal Areas.
