Elledge is of Honduran and Mexican descent, but she was born in the US. “I just feel like it’s rude and disrespectful”.
Elledge’s grandfather John Elledge is furious about the whole situation and posted about it on Facebook.
They soon paid and left, and Sadie thought no more of it – until she read their receipt.
“I was born here but I’m Mexican and Honduran”, Elledge told WHSV, but the cheapskate couple never even spoke with Elledge.
“Y$3 ou can tell that I’m Hispanic”, Elledge said of the incident in the interview.
It’s a tale as old as time itself: waiter or waitress serves customer, customer harbors some sort of inherent racist/homophobic beliefs, customer decides to “helpfully” leave waiter or waitress sanctimonious advice regarding their life choices in lieu of a tip. “She was asking me why I posted it”.
Angeliki Floros, the owner of Jess’ Lunch, branded the pair cowardly and said they could only return if they regret their actions. I said “Obviously, it was an insult – your signature against my granddaughter – darn right I’m going to post it”. They were angry that this was making the rounds on social media.
Floros said she wants an apology.
The woman who left the nasty note, however, was overheard speaking with a foreign accent, according to local media.
“I said ‘It’s not even your card”.
“We didn’t talk much”, Elledge told The Post”. ‘She was mad that I posted it … the guy, he was being really belligerent’.

Marchese told The Post that the restaurant reviewed videotape of the interaction and that the tape shows that Sadie picked up the receipt, folded it and put it into her receipt book. However, when she found the receipt she learned why.
