Sandusky police detectives and firefighters responded to the scene shortly after 5 p.m. and joined park officials in their investigation and emergency response efforts.

Cedar Point roller coaster Raptor reopened late Friday afternoon – a day after the ride, while in motion, struck and killed a man entering a restricted area. The Raptor was in operation and he was struck.

Raptor is one of Cedar Park’s 17 coasters, twisting people up, down and all around at speeds reaching 57 miles per hour, though Frost didn’t say how fast it was going at the time.

“Say something to someone just don’t hop over the fence”, said someone visiting the park. His friends told police Young dropped the phone while on the ride earlier.

Police identified Young as a 45-year-old resident of East Canton, Ohio, the Sandusky Register reported.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family”, the park said in a statement. Nobody else was injured in the roller coaster death incident.

“Safety is always our first priority”, said Cedar Point spokesman Bryan Edwards. “That’s completely untrue”, Dannemiller, a former amusement park employee, said. I rode every coaster a thousand times.

Young was a teacher on his last trip before the school year, when he was to start working as a new guidance counselor, according to the Washington Post.
