Wasn’t approached for ‘Padmavati’, reports are baseless: Hrithik Roshan

However, it is confirmed that Ranveer is very much a part of Padmavati. The stated request irked filmmaker SLB as he expected Ranveer to go on with the film even without the narration. While names of various A-list stars from Shah Rukh Khan to Hrithik Roshan were conveniently planted as replacements, Ranveer remained gracefully mum on the subject. Ranveer was the natural and only choice to play the antagonistic warrior Allauddin Khilji who covets the Rajasthani queen Padmavati, to be played by Deepika Padukone, in Bhansali’s proposed epic historical.

What seemed quite an obvious casting coup, turned out to be a complicated one when reports of problems between Ranveer and Sanjay Leela Bhansali surfaced. To be fair, Ranveer has every right to ask to see the script when there is another hero in the film. From deciding upon the cast to Deepika Padukone’s pay cheque for the movie, we’ve read it all.

Reports of Singh, who will be seen playing the role of Alauddin Khilji, asking the director for a script narration a few weeks before the film was to go on floors has been making news in the media. However, both Ranveer and Bhansali maintained a stoic silence over the matter and the actor even refused to comment on the issue when questions were thrown at him at a recent press conference. As compared to “Ram Leela”, “Bajrao Mastani” took opulence and grandeur a notch higher, and maybe “Padmavati” could take it higher.
