Frank Ocean Blonde Released And You Can Hear It Now

The long-awaited follow-up to 2012’s channel ORANGE made its debut in a video stream on Frank’s website, BoysDontCry.co, which was accompanied by footage of him building a spiral staircase in a warehouse.

You might be more confused by the video however, which bounces from glittered arses to talking Chihuahuas without any tenuously connected “artsy” explanation to speak of. “I got two versions, I got two versions, I got two versions” says the deep voice as the track eases in, reinforcing his original promise on the new album from past year. “Which is basically every one of y’all”, Ocean wrote on his official Tumblr blog.

Ocean’s reputation as a fearless and agenda-setting artist has not diminished in his years away from the limelight; Blond is sure to be endlessly dissected over the coming days.

For years, the artist referred to his sophomore album as Boys Don’t Cry, but yesterday he premiered a black-and-white visual album on Apple Music titled Endless.

A rep from Apple Music further added fuel to the rumor fire, saying in a statement that we should “keep an eye out this weekend for more from Frank”.

“Blonde” has 17 tracks and an impressive list of contributors.

In an interview with Pitchfork, Wolfgang explained that he came to meet with Frank originally for a photograph which he wanted to use for the upcoming album, and instead became interested in Tillmans’ music.

The 45-minute video, Endless, started streaming on Friday exclusively on Apple Music. He also released a Boys Don’t Cry magazine at pop-up shops in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and London Saturday.

It also veers into emotional territory-A$AP Rocky holds up a picture of A$AP Yams and Ocean holds up one of Trayvon Martin. Among other things, the magazine handed out to fans featured an alternate running order for the new album.
