Trump slams Obama in Louisiana

As Louisiana was ravaged by devastating floods this month (August 2016), the state’s largest daily newspaper in a scathing editorial asked the President of the United States, Barack Obama, to cut short his vacation and take a first-hand look at the large scale of destruction of property and loss of life.

Trump surrogate and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani had something to say about Edwards’ chilly reception for the Republican ticket, reminding him that during the September 11 attacks, he welcomed all leaders to the Empire State, regardless of their politics.

“Instead we hope he’ll consider volunteering or making a sizable donation to the LA Flood Relief Fund to help the victims of the storm”, the spokesman added.

Trump stopped to tour one home in Denham Springs that had been flooded alongside his running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence. “We are glad he is coming”.

Christie also accused Edwards of “injecting partisan politics into a tragic national disaster”.

The flooding is the result of a slow-moving, hybrid low-pressure system that dumped between 24 and 31 inches of rain – some 6.9 trillion gallons of water – on parts of southern Louisiana over the course of 48 hours last week before moving into Texas.

Some slammed Christie for appearing to hug Obama and many partially blamed the governor for costing Romney the election.

“Today, Donald Trump acted more presidential than the president himself, by immediately going to Louisiana while President Obama chose to continue playing golf and Hillary Clinton phoned in her views”.

“We are not here to say we think the president should have come”, Kovacs also told Fox News.

Obama has been in Martha’s Vineyard, where he received updates on the situation in Louisiana from the DHS and FEMA, whose top officials had made trips there, according to a statement from the president.

The White House said the president’s advisers spoke with state officials and determined that Tuesday was the right time to visit.

But Obama wasn’t entirely clueless, and he apparently predicted that his presidential record faced a terrifying and irreversible blight if he delayed a Louisiana visit for much longer.
