No, that’s no error. Now, 30 years old, she entered the 400m sprint in Rio for what would likely be her last Olympics.

Bahamas sprinter Shaunae Miller shocked the world last night when she pulled off one of the wildest finishes of Rio 2016.

Yet she had a bad start, while Miller, the silver medalist in this event a year ago in the world championships, took off from the outside and created a lot of catching up to do.

The race ended with the closest finish to the women’s 400-meter dash in Olympic history – Miller ran a 49.44 while Felix finished in 49.51, just a 0.07-second difference.

“I don’t know kind of what happened”, Miller said after. “I just tried to give all I had”, Felix said.

It was her first individual Olympic 400m medal, although she does have two Olympic 4x400m gold medals.

The Bahamian’s win has been controversial, with many taking to social media to criticize her diving at the finish.

Rio de Janeiro (AFP) – A tearful Allyson Felix extended her record as the most decorated U.S. track athlete of all time but her 20th medal in major championships could not ease the pain of a shattering defeat.

Though the silver was bittersweet for Felix, 30, it was her seventh Olympic track and field medal, and helped her break the USA record set by Jackie Joyner-Kersee.

Her first Olympic medal came in the 200m at her first Games, when she was 18 at Athens 2004.

“It is such an emotional moment for me but I just give God the thanks and praise”.

“I’ve got a few cuts and bruises but I’m OK. Still, Miller’s torso crossed first, as required by the rules, and she took the gold medal in 49.44 seconds, her personal best”. She attempted to pull away in the final bend, as Felix surged about 50 metres from the line. Miller wanted to get that gold so badly, she literally put her body on the line.

Shericka Jackson claimed bronze in 49.85.
