The 2017 NBA All-Star Game was moved from Charlotte due to the controversial law, and many celebs – including Bruce Springsteen, Nick Jonas, Demi Lovato and Ringo Starr – have called off their North Carolina concerts. It also may have caused one of the biggest weddings of the year to be moved out of the state.

Newlyweds Ciara and Russell Wilson axed plans to Wednesday in North Carolina after lawmakers introduced controversial anti-transgender laws. “But it was really done”, their wedding planner, Mindy Weiss, told The Knot.
“They were gonna go to Paris and it ended up being [Couture] Fashion Week”, Weiss said.
“They wanted to be away”. And we found a castle that was an hour out of Liverpool and they had about 110 guests …
Meanwhile, after tying the knot, Wilson admitted to ET shortly thereafter that not much had changed between the two.
Ciara said of married life, “Everything is sweet, we are so happy, this is really the happiest I have ever been”. “It’s not just on athletes, it’s not just on coaches, it’s not just on anybody in particular”. I think ultimately it comes down to love and appreciating one another and respect for one another. “While we recognize that the National Basketball Association cannot choose the law in every city, state, and country in which we do business, we do not believe we can successfully host our All-Star festivities in Charlotte in the climate created by HB2”, the commissioner said at the time.

North Carolina has come under scrutiny since passing a law requiring transgender individuals to use the public restroom associated with their birth certificates. HB2 also sets a statewide definition of nondiscrimination that excludes gender identity and sexual orientation.
