Chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Javad Zarif, and the Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment of Cuba, Rodrigo Malmierca, the meeting also reviewed the common possibilities.
Zarif went on to add, “since opposing Arrogance is a significant feature of our Islamic Revolution and Iran has been sanctioned by the USA for over three decades, we understand Cuba’s situation and will stand by its nation and government”.
“The composition of the delegation”, Zarif said, “is indicative of the significance that both the private and the state-run sectors of the Islamic Republic of Iran attach to the enhancement of relations with Latin America”.
During the meeting with his Cuban counterpart, Zarif stressed how both nations have been able to show resistance to US influence while maintaining ideologies different from Washington’s.
Zarif was also quoted as saying by Iran’s state-owned Press TV that “the Iranian nation proved that sanctions imposed by big powers can not drive it away from its policies and viewpoints”.
“We can enhance our ties in areas like biotechnology, culture, education, industries, energy and other economic fields that are vital for our countries to develop and contribute to a closer relationship between us”, said the Cuban minister.
The global community lifted sanctions on Iran as part of the deal under which Tehran curbed its nuclear program.
