5-year-old Minnesota girl reported missing found dead; man under arrest

Alayna Ertl’s body was found around 5 p.m. Saturday near the cabin, about 100 miles north of her Watkins home.

The body of a 5-year-old girl abducted from Meeker County, Minnesota was located in Cass County, Minnesota Saturday afternoon.

Meeker County Sheriff’s Office deputies received a report at 10 a.m. Saturday of a missing child.

Anderson was a friend of the family and a co-worker of Ertl’s father who had been to the house previously, Meeker County Sheriff Brian Cruze said Saturday evening.

Meeker County authorities are asking anyone with information to call authorities. He is described as a 5’10, 200 pound white male with dark hair and a shaggy short beard.

The suspect is a co-worker of the girl’s father.

According to authorities, the suspect is being held in the Crow Wing County Jail.

We spoke with a board member at Wilderness Park Estates, a residential community located in Meadow Brook Township in Cass County, who says she heard helicopters overhead.

Authorities were able to locate the truck by tracking down the cell phone.

The dad’s truck with a cell phone inside had also been stolen, police said.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office’s preliminary autopsy results were released late Sunday. Cruze said a tip from the public led law enforcement to a home in southern Cass County near the town of Motley. An Amber Alert went out at 1:12 p.m.

A check of online court records revealed only minor traffic issues, said the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, quoting the sheriff as saying, “We have no known predatory sexual offender information on him or anything like that”. “We are at a loss as to why this happened”.

A Facebook profile under Kayla’s name added a photo without comment Sunday morning: Alayna among pink, puffy clouds. “I’m just sick about it, and I’m going to be sick about it and everybody I know is going to be sick about it for quite a while”.

The page had raised more than $17,000 by Monday. S.in Watkins, according to the Amber Alert.
