The Indianapolis Colts on Monday announced that they have agreed to terms with free agent cornerback Antonio Cromartie.
Cromartie has 31 career interceptions and still holds the National Football League record for longest play – a 2007 109-yard blocked field goal return.
The Colts play at the Jets on December 5 (a Monday night), though it’s not clear if Cromartie still will be with Indianapolis at that point in the season. They cut the 6-2 and 210-pound cornerback back in February.
Although Cromartie earned an alleged four-year, $32 million contract after a bounceback 2014 season with the Cardinals, he was a bust in his reunion with the Jets last year. The former first-team All-Pro and four-time Pro Bowler played well with the Jets and Cardinals in the early part of this decade, with his 2014 season in Arizona inducing Todd Bowles to bring him to NY as well. He’s missed just two career contests.
Originally selected by San Diego, Cromartie was in the 19th overall pick of the 2006 NFL Draft out of Florida State.
Cromartie, who turned 32 in April, is set to enter his 11th season in the National Football League and has been a durable and full-time starter for nearly all of it.

With Vontae Davis (ankle) set as being week-to-week with no exact timetable for his return and Patrick Robinson (groin) our for some time, the Colts have no choice but to look elsewhere for talent.
