When he died, Lou had been serving a 25-year jail sentence, after he was convicted of a Ponzi scheme and fraud. “RIP Lou.’ AARON CARTER, another of PEARLMAN’s acts, tweeted, “#LouPearlman my old manager died in prison.
He suffered a stroke in 2010 and has had health problems since then.
Pearlman enjoyed huge success with his artists, but with the exception of US5 ended up being sued by all of them for misrepresentation and fraud.
Justin Timberlake has shared a message about Lou Pearlman’s death.
“Word is that #LouPearlman has passed away”, ‘NSYNC’s Lance Bass wrote on Twitter.
NSync singer Lance Bass tweeted that Pearlman was not the best businessman but that he would not be where he was without his influence.
“Some guys joked about it; I remember [one singer] asking me, ‘Have you let Lou blow you yet?'” says Steve Mooney, an aspiring singer who served as Pearlman’s assistant and lived in his home for two years. For example, he and his label made millions from the Backstreet Boys, while the group itself made only $300,000. “Without Lou I wouldn’t have met my four brothers or had the opportunity of a lifetime”. Lou was once Aaron’s manager. Before that, though, Pearlman had chartered a plane for the members of New Kids On The Block, and seeing how they were printing money with their albums, concert tickets, and merchandise, Pearlman made a decision to develop a boy band of his own. “He was always nice to me, even when he was stealing from me”. RIP, ” while Erik-Michael Estrada expressed similar sentiments: “Mixed emotions”, he simply stated. He aimed to create more successful groups following the model of New Kids on the Block.

In 1998, Pearlman’s business practices came into question when the Backstreet Boys filed a lawsuit against the producer over an unfair contract.
