‘To Be Determined’: Trump Campaign Signals He May Moderate Immigration Stance
Kellyanne Conway, Trump’s new campaign manager, stated on CNN that Trump will be “fair and humane” in his stance on deportation.

“What he supports is to make sure we enforce the law, that we are respectful of those Americans who are looking for jobs, and that we are fair and humane to those who live among us”.
“He said people who are here is the toughest part of the immigration debate, that it must be something that respects border security but deals with this in a humane and efficient manner”, Jacob Monty, a Houston-based immigration lawyer who attended the meeting in NY with other Latino supporters and Trump, told BuzzFeed.
“The biggest problem is the 11 million that are here.’ He asked for our input on how to deal with them”, Jacob Monty, a Houston-based immigration attorney who handles complex immigration issues for large corporations, including the New York Yankees.
Trump is expected to speak about immigration policy Thursday at a campaign event in Colorado.
In answering, Conway also took a swipe at Clinton over transparency issues: “I’m glad that he’s transparent about a number of things, and we’re certainly running against the least accountable, least transparent, I think, joyless candidate in presidential political history”. He replied: “My father hasn’t flip-flopped on anything”.
The meeting was followed by a report on BuzzFeed.com in which multiple sources told the website that Trump had expressed interest in a “humane and efficient” way to deal with illegal immigrants, while steadfast about his vows to tighten USA border security. There’s no immigration restrictionist that’s ever proposed that.
Republican senator Jeff Sessions, a close ally of Trump, told CBS’s Face the Nation that Trump was still working through his plans for deportations should he win the White House.
Apprehending and removing the estimated 11 million people who either entered the country illegally or overstayed their visas would cost about $400 billion and could reduce US gross domestic product by $1 trillion, according to a study released this year by the free-market think tank American Action Forum.
Conway says on ABC’s “This Week” that Trump is “very engaged” with debate prep. “And, by the way, and they’re never coming back”.
Responsible for boosting this new strategy, Kellyanne Conway, a Republican communicating mother of four, is already presented as one that could “tame” the exuberant and provocative Donald Trump.
Trump shook up his campaign this past week, installing a new chief executive, Stephen Bannon – former head of conservative news site Breitbart News.
Over the past month, Trump’s lost serious ground in the polls to Hillary Clinton.
In an interview with CNN, Trump called for the deportation of the estimated 11 million immigrants living in the United States illegally while allowing the “really good people” to return via an expedited process and then remain in the country legally.
