LeBron would love to play for Pop in 2020

Business Insider’s US Editor-in-Chief Alyson Shontell recently sat down with LeBron James to talk about life after winning the NBA Finals. And I would love to be a part of a franchise, if not at the top. My dream is to actually own a team and I don’t need to have fully hands on. If I’m fortunate enough to own a team, then I’m going to hire the best GM and president that I can.

James made the comments during the first episode of a new podcast for Uninterrupted, the on-line, social media-driven platform he created for athletes. In his hometown of Akron, Ohio, he created the LeBron James Family Foundation and has pledged to give students there four-year college scholarships.

The Cleveland Cavaliers star had competed in three straight Olympic competitions, dating back to the failed campaign of 2004, and many believed his decision to stay away was a sign his global career was coming to end.

“I sent a group chat text to my guys, saying, ‘OK, listen: It doesn’t matter what just happened”. Hell, James still seems to be in his prime considering the fact that he is still only 31.

“I believe he’s one of the great basketball minds that we’ve ever had in this game, and I wish I could be around him every day to kind of just pick his brain and see what he does, what he thinks”, LeBron said. “I knew that I had to get better with talent”.

“I meant in the simple fact that that’s my personal inspiration”.

But if he wants it, he’s certainty capable of doing it and playing on that stage. When the 2020 Games begin, LeBron will be 35 years old, so it’s not a sure thing he will be physically capable of playing at his current level.

James told ESPN in an interview aired Sunday that ownership of an National Basketball Association team is on the horizon. Factor in his business acumen-be it Nike, SpringHill, or his recent equity stake in Blaze Pizza-and owning an National Basketball Association team when his playing days are over isn’t very far-fetched.
