Usain Bolt wins ninth Olympic gold as Jamaica take 4x100m relay
He missed last year’s World Championships but rebounded to qualify for the Olympics, where he narrowly missed out on a medal in the 100 metres when he finished fourth.

Bolt took a couple throws of the javelin, the last one going about 50 metres.
The victory which came two days before his 30th birthday also marked Bolt’s ninth gold medal in three successive Olympic games.
“I’m just happy and relieved”.
There is no doubt that Bolt has transformed his sport, if only by nearly single-handedly displacing the United States as the superpower of men’s sprinting.
Also represented by Asafa Powell, Yohan Blake and Nickel Ashmeade, Jamaica clocked 37.27 seconds to beat Japan by 0.33 seconds, with Canada taking bronze in 37.64.
Usain Bolt ended his Olympic career with an energetic display on the dance floor – grinding with a mystery beauty in a Brazilian club. The Jamaican, who has 4.3 million followers on Twitter, thanked the fans for believing in him: “My fans you guys never doubted me a min and for that I belong to you guys forever #blessed”. Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian of all time with 23 golds, said he was done with swimming after winning his 18th gold medal at the 2012 London Games. But then calamity struck.
Really strong: The US team were forced into a solo re-run of their qualifier on Thursday, having overturned a disqualification for a dropped baton exchange between Felix and Gardner.
A throw of 56 meters is far from the 90.3-meter throw that earned Germany’s Thomas Rohler a gold medal in the event, but it was just a few meters behind the 59.77-meter throw recorded by decathlon gold medal victor Ashton Eaton.
The episode served as a distraction from several notable events in competition Thursday, including another haul of American medals in track and field, Jordan’s first Olympic championship – in men’s taekwondo – and the USA women’s basketball team advancing to the Summer Games final yet again.
“From the darkened field below, the shouts of “Usain Bolt, Usain Bolt” started ringing out”.
Ahead of Bolt is another year of competition leading up to the World Championships in London, followed by retirement. “It’s been a great career”. I’ve done like 500 since I’ve been here. “I’ve proved to the world I’m the greatest in the sport, so it’s “mission accomplished” pretty much”, asserted the Jamaican.
After completing his “triple-triple”, Bolt spared himself no compliments, stating: “There you go. Everybody just appreciates what he’s done”.
The 20-year-old has claimed she is “dying of shame” since the pics of her and Bolt emerged online.

“He’s a great sprinter”, Gay said after the race.
