When Team USA asked gymnastics star Simone Biles to be the flag bearer for the team during the Closing Ceremony of the 2016 Rio Olympics, it may have overlooked a simple matter of logistics – the flag is extremely large … and Biles isn’t.
In fact, numerous gymnastic phenom’s fans were quick to note that the closing ceremonies were inadvertently delayed because of the sheer number of people stopping Biles and asking to take a photo with her.
The 19-year-old, who carried the American flag for the Olympics closing ceremony, tweeted back with charm we just can’t get enough of.
Though it was largely expected given her dominance in the sport over the past three years, Biles’ competition here was a resounding success.
But it was USA’s President Barack Obama who led in congratulating Biles for her performances at the Games. Looking at Biles during the closing ceremonies, it was no wonder that everyone seemed to want a selfie with the gymnast’s famous “Biles Smile”.
Taking in the Closing Ceremonies from home!
“I’m afraid the flag is going to be too heavy for me”, she was quoted as telling reporters ahead of the closing ceremony. Biles also made history by becoming the first gymnast from her country to achieve the feat.

She led the Americans to a second consecutive team gold medal by an eye-popping eight points before winning the all-around title, gold medals on vault and floor exercise and bronze on balance beam.
