I will admit that it’s an interesting set-up, dividing the crew and taking out the one thing that makes the titular “star trek” possible, and it certainly raises that stakes. Star Trek Beyond has amassed an impressive 84% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while Lights Out has a 77% rating, although it was sporting a 100% rating earlier this week. In the interview, Karl Urban went into detail about the difference between his character in the previous movies and in Star Trek Beyond, and it becomes clear that this time around the character is being shown as a confidante and friend to Captain Kirk, whereas before it was more of an implied relationship.

As of press time, after Star Trek Beyond release date, box office, along with an global take of $30 million, stands at a decent $89.6 million, way off its $185 million production budget.

Meanwhile, Universal Pictures’ “The Secret Life Of Pets” has slipped to second place in its third weekend, with $29.3 million, which is a 42 percent decline from the previous weekend.

In North America, the film got a lift from Imax screenings, earning $8.4 million from 387 locations.
