Wonderkid! 4-year-old girl from UP gets admission in Std IX!

Currently, her sister Sushma holds the record of “the youngest student to pass class X”. The board permits home education only till Class VIII. “She [Ananya] came to us in June and sought admission in class X, saying that since [elder sister] Sushma did get admissions to class IX”. Born on 1 December 2011 to Tej Bahadur, an assistant supervisor (sanitation) at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, and Chaya Devi, who can not read or write, Ananya demonstrated remarkable literacy and an ability to grasp knowledge since she was very young.

But fate had different plans for her and her siblings. “There are three seats vacant in the general category and one in the reserved category”, Kumar said. She needs to be given special attention, particularly in mathematics. “We must encourage her talent. We will give her a hostel [seat] and scholarship also”. Her father is an assistant supervisor of sanitation at a university.

Her mother Chhaya told the newspaper that the 4-year-old has always been a quick-learner and has read the Ramayana so many times that she remembers it by heart.

Ananya’s brother Shailendra – the eldest child – is also a child prodigy as he achieved his bachelor’s degree in Science when he was just 14 years old. “She can also read and recite poems in Hindi and English”, said Sushma. “She learns just by seeing and reading”.

At 4 years, 8 months and 21 days of age, Ananya may find herself in the Limca Book of Records should she crack the Uttar Pradesh Board Examination two years from now. She finished her BSc at 13.

Ananya’s sister Sushma cleared her 10th standard board exams when she was just 7 years old.

We hope she breaks the record and grows in prosperity and intellect, which she surely will!

A generation of wonders, we must say!
