For the first time in history, Pakistan have raised to Number One spot in ICC Test Rankings after the fourth Test match between India and West Indies ended on draw.

West Indies’ head coach Phil Simmons feels that they have been inconsistent in the recently concluded Test series against India which they lost 0-2 with hardly any play in the last encounter. “Our long-term objective and strategy is to remain competitive, continue to challenge the top sides with good cricket”.
“We can not bring worldwide cricket (to the country) but we have brought the number one rankings”, said Abdul Qayyum.
Pakistan have gained the number one Test ranking after the fourth and final Test of the series between the West Indies and India was abandoned as a draw because of a waterlogged outfield on the scheduled fifth morning in Trinidad on Monday.
India are second in the ranks with 110 points, while England and Australia are in joint third place on 108 points.
Under Younis, Pakistan plummeted to number nine in one-day global rankings – a slump which they need to address in the five-match series against England starting on Wednesday.

To mark Pakistan’s number-one Test status, it will be presented with the ICC Test Championship mace. Pakistan are now in England and about to embark on a one-day series after levelling the Test series 2-2 with the hosts.
