Trump, shifting immigration tone, stresses a ‘fair’ approach

‘Pay the Clinton Foundation huge sums of money and throw in some big speaking fees for Bill Clinton and you’ve got the play – you’ve got the do what you want them to do, ‘ Trump said. He bore down again during the speech later in Akron, telling a crowd that if elected, he would have a special prosecutor appointed to investigate the foundation.

A Trump campaign source said the campaign made a decision to push back Trump’s immigration speech as it is still fine-tuning its immigration policy and the speech’s language.

“At least two primary constitutional departments are being corrupted – State and Justice”, Trump said.

Clinton, who said she was taking the preparation seriously, added that she knows she needs to be “prepared for, like, wacky stuff”.

Mrs. Clinton also has focused on a core message, and her stump speeches mostly have been free of gaffes and controversy, even as she continues to deal with serious questions about her handling of classified information while secretary of state and ethical concerns swirling around foreign donations to the Clinton Foundation while she served as the nation’s top diplomat.

“The Clinton Foundation is a non-profit organization that is a world-class charity”, Clinton running mate Tim Kaine said at an Ironworkers convention in Las Vegas. “In Hillary Clinton’s world, we have one set of rules for her and another set of rules for everyone else”.

But, while he attempted to win over Hispanics, Trump still insisted, “We’re going to build the wall, folks”.

Although he held back on offering specifics, Trump’s different tone could be an attempt to court moderate Republican voters disturbed by the candidate’s tough stances on immigration.

“I will tell you, we are dealing with people”, Trump said during an interview on “Fox & Friends”.

We are going to obey the existing laws. “I’m asking for your vote, so I can be your champion in the White House”.

“The impression I got was that the campaign is working on substantive policy to help the undocumented that are here, including some type of status so they would not be deported”, said Pastor Mario Bramnick, president of the Hispanic Israel Leadership Coalition, who was in attendance.

Then a questioner asked if he would return “military equipment” to law enforcement – a topic that got attention following the police shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo.in 2014.

Trump told Fox & Friends earlier in the day that he is not flip-flopping on deporting 11 million people living in the USA illegally, but he said he wants to develop a “really fair, but firm” solution.

“We want to come up with a really fair, but firm answer”. We have to be very, very strong when people come in illegally. “I think on the one hand, it is part of the wacky strategy, just say all these insane things and maybe you can get some people to believe you”. “Well, I’m going to do the same thing and I just said that”. We’ve got gang members, we have killers, we have a lot of bad people that have to get out of this country. “As far as I can tell, he is a healthy as a horse”.
