Impressive Turkey winger Tore baffled Adam Smith with some nifty footwork before lofting a cross to the far post, where Antonio rose highest to head home from close-range.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe was left to rue the fact that Harry Arter had fallen foul of the new clampdown on answering back to referees after the midfielder was shown a second yellow card for a foul after earlier being booked for dissent.

West Ham started Premier League life at its new home at the London Stadium by beating 10-man Bournemouth 1-0 on Sunday, with Michail Antonio grabbing the 85th-minute victor.

If West Ham are to fulfil Bilic’s prediction of an atmospheric first season in the London Stadium, they will need better luck with injuries than they are now experiencing.

In all, Burke has made 11 appearances for West Ham’s senior team.

West Ham dominated possession for the most part, with Bournemouth being limited to a handful of shots from long-range.

The decision was taken as a safety measure after a vast amount of supporters persistently stood up during West Ham’s first two matches at the new stadium – a Europa League qualifier against NK Domzale and a friendly against Juventus. “It depends what you mean by long term, but I say a few weeks”, Bilic explained. We’re going to get red cards galore if we don’t learn quickly.

“It was not a good game but the lads were brilliant”, said Bilic.

“We lost Dimi in the week for this game and Andy Carroll on Thursday night, as well as the others in pre-season”.

“This season for me, another loan move may happen for me”, he told the club website.

The full-back concluded: “It is a great stadium, the pitch, the atmosphere, it really is special and we are really excited to be playing in this stadium”.

“I thought it was our game for the taking, but for one lapse of discipline, possibly we would have won it”, Howe told Sky Sports.
