AT&T to provide cellphone roaming, other services in Cuba
Cuba’s state-owned telecommunications company Etecsa has opened 35 public WiFi stops in the country.

While AT&T did announce that the deal with Etecsa has been signed, the carrier did not mention a launch date or discuss pricing for the service.
Cuba’s state-owned telecommunications company, ETECSA, announced Monday that it had signed agreements with its USA counterpart AT&T on roaming and direct interconnection between the two countries. Those agreement will allow to offer phone call services through direct interconnection between the two countries, noted the text.
AT&T has reached a deal for enhanced roaming and other cellphone services for wireless customers visiting Cuba. Many of its rivals have already inked similar agreements.
“Cuba is a growing worldwide calling destination for our customers”, said Bill Hague, executive vice president of AT&T Global Connection Management.
During 2016, US companies Verizon Partner Solutions and T-Mobile USA also agreed to exchange global voice traffic.
Washington has maintained a severe economic and trade blockade on Havana since 1962.
