With the match seemingly petering out to a draw, another substitute made the difference for the visitors as Fabregas unlocked the home defence to release Costa, and the forward made no mistake with his finish to give Chelsea another thrilling, and not to mention, controversial, three points.
Conte is enjoying a flawless start to life at Stamford Bridge and praised the togetherness of his squad after turning to his bench for match-winning inspiration.
Speaking after being vilified for his challenge on West Ham keeper Adrian last Monday night, Costa said: “I’ll be honest, I am targeted here”. Chelsea are unbeaten against Watford since then in all competition winning seven of their ten games.
“So I want him to put himself in the game, not to think of other situations”. When new players come on, there is a great impact.
With Chelsea struggling for most of the second half, Conte introduced Victor Moses and Michy Batshuayi after 70 minutes.
“When you don’t start the game (well), usually you’re not happy”.
Two games, two wins for Antonio Conte. “We saw this in these two games”. “It’s a good family and a good team”.
“I believe that work pays and always pays”, he said.
“We know that this market is very hard”.
“It won’t be easy”.
Six minutes earlier, super-sub Michy Batshuayi came off the bench to equalise. “And wins like this are very important to improve confidence and trust in the work”.
“I don’t want to buy just to buy, I want to buy the right player for Chelsea, for the present, for the future, with a good prospect”. At this moment it’s very hard to buy because if you ask a player of medium level, they [the selling club] might ask for £55m. When you play so well and don’t manage to get any points, it leaves you unhappy. As Chelsea’s back four went to sleep the robust midfielder controlled Adlene Guedioura’s cross expertly on his chest before slamming the ball past a flailing Courtois.
“But in Italy we d say that we complicated our own lives”.
Both took up permanent residency in their technical areas, urging their teams on in a highly theatrical style that resembled an angry pair of opera tenors. We were not focused at either goal.

In just 12 minutes, Cesc Fabregas proved to spectators why Chelsea is better off utilizing him in the midfield next to N’Golo Kante rather than Nemanja Matic.
