One of Sharper’s victims – the only one to speak at his sentencing hearing – rebuffed his display of contrition.
“For the list of people you’ve done this to – go to hell”, she said. In his plea agreement, Sharper confessed that he and his friend Brandon Licciardi used sedatives and anti-anxiety drugs into victims’ drinks.
The details of what happened in many of these cases is downright sickening, including drugging women and having drugged women sent to him for him to then rape or attempt to rape.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael McMahon says he’s satisfied with the prison sentence given to former National Football League star Darren Sharper.
Licciardi and a second co-defendant in New Orleans, Erik Nunez, will be sentenced on October 13.
Triche-Milazzo stated on Thursday that the courts “could not ignore the damage” Sharper inflicted on society and women in general, according to the Associated Press. Sharper will get two and a half years of custody credit toward the 18-year sentence, and he will only serve 85% of the federal sentence, meaning at most he will serve roughly 13 years in jail, notwithstanding any credit he earns while behind bars.
Sharper’s family left the courtroom without speaking to reporters.

During his August 17 court appearance, Darren said he apologized to the victims “1,000 times”, according to the New Orleans Advocate. He said he believes Sharper will be sentenced next month in Las Vegas, and couldn’t recall the Los Angeles sentencing date.
The woman, who Sharper admitted to drugging and raping, described the attack’s intense impact on her life.
Yet with the guilty pleas from Licciardi and Nunez, Sharper never took the witness stand. The woman’s voice was shaky and she frequently brought a handkerchief to her eyes.
