EFL Cup: Liverpool, Chelsea begin domestic cup campaign
Jürgen Klopp addressed reporters at Melwood on Monday ahead of Liverpool’s EFL Cup second-round clash with Burton Albion.

Liverpool travel to Championship outfit Burton for a second-round tie in the competition following Saturday’s disappointing 2-0 defeat to Burnley on Saturday.
With no European football this season there is less pressure on the squad than there was during the 63 matches they were involved in during their run to the Capital One Cup and Europa League finals in the previous campaign.
As most Premier League sides tend to rest some of their first-team players for the early rounds of the League Cup, Tuesday’s tie may serve as the flawless opportunity for Origi and others now in the background at Anfield to show Klopp that no further incomings are required.
It was a bitter disappointemt for Liverpool and boss Jurgen Klopp, and sine his arrival as manager it is becoming somewhat of a common theme to claim a fabulous win but fail to follow it up.
“If one game should change my mind then I would be a real idiot”, he said.
And given the way Saturday’s game against Burnley went, we could all certainly use the quick turnaround.
Jurgen Klopp says he will check on his players’ fitness before deciding on his team for Burton.
We spoke to Burton fan David Turner (@dturner1997) about his beloved Brewers, and got his thoughts on which Reds players he is wary of. [They have] an experienced manager and a clear style of play, I would expect a 3-5-2 system that they played in the last few games.
“Of course we respect the opponent but it is not the moment to rest someone but we have a few players who are now in a good shape and they have two weeks’ more pre-season, if you like, more to train”.
“We could have done much better”.
However, speaking ahead of the trip to Burton, Klopp insisted he would “make changes but not big changes”.
“We have another day, today is not the highest intensity of training – it’s not possible”.
We’ll be keeping you updated with all the buildup to the game, including team news as it’s released, our live matchday thread and post-match recaps from The Liverpool Offside staff.

“In this moment I would say they are all available which were available last week, plus maybe one or two players if we need them. We had so many moments around the box where we could have made better decisions”, added the German, who is likely to give Belgium striker Divock Origi and new centre-back Joel Matip their first starts of the season.
