Broncos’ Siemian to start at QB on Saturday

The Denver Broncos will start Trevor Siemian at quarterback for their third preseason game this week against the Rams.

Sanchez is battling Trevor Siemian for the starting quarterback job for the defending world champions. Rookie Paxton Lynch went 15 for 26 for 113 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in the second half, but he also threw a pick-six (as did Siemian).

Klis says the Broncos have seen “too many negative plays” from Sanchez this preseason, and the team stresses ball protection from the quarterback position given their fantastic defense.

The Denver Broncos search for the starting quarterback continues to be one of the intense actions in the National Football League as three players are vying for the job.

And unless Trevor Siemian goes ballistic this coming Saturday at home against the Rams – a tough task because of the aggressive Rams defense and Denver’s bad offensive line – I can’t see him as the starting QB on opening night.

“We’ve got three quarterbacks, two of which weren’t on this team a year ago”, he added. Hell, you don’t even have to like him as your QB, but the Broncos are built to win NOW and placing their Super Bowl hopes on a player that hasn’t thrown in a real live regular situation heading into this season where there are expectations is not the answer. “I have to sit here and think about how much I’m going to play the starters, so that’ll have a lot to do with how I play them”. “I don’t have to but I’m going to make a decision next week and we’re going to go to work”.

Mark Sanchez and Trevor Siemian failed at that task on Saturday night.

While that makes him the clear leader for the starting job September 8, when the Broncos open the regular season against the Carolina Panthers, Siemian has not yet closed the deal.

He has three turnovers in two preseason games.

While the quarterbacks have, for the most part, taken care of the ball, the 49ers lost three more fumbles (and recovered two of their own) against Denver, to go along with two in the preseason opener against Houston. “I think the Broncos are trying to find a starter”.

It was the only mistake for the second-year quarterback from Northwestern, who was a seventh-round draft pick last year. “We could always start faster, but just getting into the flow of the offense kind of playing more this week we see how things kind of work”.

Kubiak remains quiet in the last few weeks but after Saturday’s game, he hinted that Lynch could win the job. Lynch seemed to be in the background in the competition for the starting job, but after two preseason games that may be changing.

The 49ers opened with a three-and-out that included a third-down incompletion in which Gabbert overthrew running back Carlos Hyde on the left side to avoid a sack.

Kubiak said last week he was looking for an ah-ha moment. “That’s not a very good play versus quarters”.

“I know I can play this game”. “I knew this was going to take some time and I think (it’s) a credit to them in how well they’ve battled and pushed each other”.
