Liverpool: Mixed emotions for Klopp

“I don’t think there will be many teams who get the ball as much as Liverpool, they get so many bodies in there”.

“In England you use the word “clinical” – in a lot of situations I saw we were clinical but even then we didn’t score”.

But speaking at a news conference to preview his team’s trip to the Pirelli Stadium, Klopp said he is respecting the competition once again, having reached the final last season, and aims to put out a strong side on Tuesday night.

Klopp said he still doesn’t “feel good” about Saturday’s defeat, but will be looking for an instant reaction from his players.

We all know Liverpool can bring their best in the so-called bigger games, but can they produce it against sides that sit deep and play on the counter-attack?

“We have to stay calm”.

“I would expect a 3-5-2 system, which is what they have played in the last few games”.

The Reds looked composed for most of the game but failed to threaten Burnley’s goal. They’ve got a thirst to keep improving and that’s the key to how we work’.

“Liverpool, for example, their cheapest player will be more expensive than our record signing”.

Burton could adopt similar tactics to frustrate Klopp’s men and hope to capitalise on the seemingly inevitable costly defensive mistake that Liverpool just don’t seem to be able to eradicate, regardless of managerial and player changes.

“If one game should change my mind then I would be a real idiot”, he said, as noted by The Guardian. “Lucas was not here, and you would ask for a hard midfielder?”

Liverpool have made a profit on their summer transfer deals so far, being up to the tune of around £10m after shipping out players such as Brad Smith, Jordon Ibe, Joe Allen and Christian Benteke.

“Aiden O’Neill walking on a Premier League football pitch at 18, that’s a marvellous thing, so I’m really proud of that”. “It doesn’t look like we are 100% fine-tuned”.

On Tuesday they travel to Burton from England’s second tier in the League Cup, a competition they have won a record eight times but now enter at an early stage due to their failure to qualify for Europe this season.

“A good tempo to how they work, a real pressing game and that aggressive football in passing with a objective and getting the ball moved quickly”.

Jurgen Klopp will wait to decide on transfers
