Google’s Daydream VR Platform Could Be Launching In Weeks
Google plans to launch its Daydream virtual reality platform in the coming weeks, according to Bloomberg, a likely timeline given the VR-capable Android 7.0 was released on Monday. During its Google I/O presentation in May, Google revealed Hulu, Ubisoft, the National Basketball Association, and IMAX will all have a presence on Daydream when it launches.

Daydream, which will be built into new versions of Google’s Android devices and will link up with an upcoming headset, was first announced at the tech giant’s IO conference back in May.
Also said to be in the works are promotion deals with video game producers, sports leagues, and music apps.
Of course, to create content like this, the right equipment is necessary. Google has been investing in content from Hulu and certain YouTube stars. Several sports leagues, such as the National Basketball Association and MLB, are also expected to dip their toes into the Daydream waters.
The company is offering “high six figures” for VR games projects while filmmakers are taking in “low six figures” for the best video content, the sources said. “Google’s Daydream will help advance mobile virtual reality”. Though its projects won’t be exclusive to Daydream, Hulu will time the release of several pieces to the debut of Google’s platform. Since then, we’ve learned that Google plans on launching its own Daydream-ready VR headset, which will put it in direct competition to other companies looking to launch their own headsets in the future.
