The 26 year old Liverpool forward’s availability has seen him be linked with a return to the Serie A, with Gazetta World reporting that Serie A trio, Bologna, Lazio and Chievo are interested in signing the Italy global, capped 33 times by the Azzurri.

The mercurial forward wants to play in Italy in order to win back his place in the national team squad, and has attracted attention from a few mid-table Serie A clubs thus far.

“Mina Raiola offered us Balotelli, but we refused”, he told Rai Sport’s Zona 11 pm show.

The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at AC Milan but the former Manchester City striker managed to score just one goal in 20 Serie A appearances.

Bologna have been keeping a close watch on proceedings at Anfield, and are interested in Balotelli, but were waiting for the nod from coach Donadoni this month.
