PV Sindhu: I am on cloud nine at the moment

Calling the silver medal feat as “the most precious jewel in the crown of Mother India”, Sonia said: “Her silver medal is the most precious jewel in the crown of Mother India today and she has set examples for generation to come”. Coach Gopichand commented that “the most striking feature in Sindhu’s game is her attitude and the never-say-die spirit”.

Pullela Gopichand, was coaching Saina Nehwal and has an established reputation of a legendary badminton player.

Though hoping for a gold, P.V. Ramana and P. Vijaya were elated that their daughter created history by becoming the first Indian shuttler to win a silver at Olympics. Carolina took the next two points for a three point advantage at 18-16 but what followed next was an outrageously and awesomely fantastic game of display by Sindhu.

“I am very proud to be an India, especially first Indian to win individual silver medal”.

“I just want to go back to India”, said Sindhu, quite eager to see the joy on the faces of people, not least film icon Amitabh Bachchan, who tweeted that he wanted a selfie with her.

“She has had a great last week”. “Her parents played a huge part”. “I knew she had an Olympic medal in her”. “Sindhu is very young, has a huge potential. I think from now it is totally changed for me”, an elated Sindhu said. She has a lot of potential to grow further.

“My best wishes are with you for all future endeavours”. She has done us proud. She really played well and deserved the gold.

Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara, who lost to Sindhu in the semifinals and then took third place when Li withdrew from the event, won the bronze medal. It’s a win in the Olympics. She began training at the age of 8. Remember that we have won a medal.

The parents thanked coach Gopichand for all his support and encouragement, which helped her bag the silver medal.

The post match gestures by Sindhu won billions of hearts in the indoor stadium and the viewers in front of the TV.
