Johanna Konta is seeded 13th in the women’s half of the draw having reached the fourth round past year, while home hope Serena Williams is unsurprisingly the top seed as she looks to add a 23rd grand slam title to her resume.

The American, who unsurprisingly took the top seed in the women’s draw after winning 33 out of her 38 matches this year, will be aiming to clinch her seventh US Open title and surpass Steffi Graff’s record of 22 major titles in the Open era.

Last year, chasing the “Serena Slam” and a fourth successive US Open title, Williams was surprisingly beaten in the semi-finals to the unseeded Roberta Vinci.

Garbine Muguruza is seeded No. 3, and Agnieszka Radwanska is No. 4.

The German will be making her fourth appearance at the event while Williams has managed to win the WTA Finals five times but was not present at last years event as she chose to withdraw with injury. Venus Williams is seeded sixth after her 2016 resurgence.

Like Williams, Djokovic is the top ranked men’s player in the world and it came as no surprise to see him confirmed as top seed for the tournament that starts on August 29. Wimbledon runner-up Milos Raonic and 14-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal round out the top five.
