Johnny Depp might not have been there, despite the hype, but that failed to dampen the atmosphere as thousands turned out to catch a glimpse of the glamour surrounding the Walt Disney production.

The fact that Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland earned $1 billion in 2010 still astonishes. There’s a reason summer movie season essentially now begins around St. Patrick’s Day. Before the festivities officially get under way, Walt Disney Pictures’ Twitter feed debuted the first two posters for Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass, set to hit theaters May 27, 2016.
Although no plot has been given yet, we have now receive the first to poster to the upcoming Alice in Wonderland sequel, Alice Through The Looking Glass. One features Alice (presumably it’s Alice; she’s blonde, at least), standing at the end of a trail of clocks, floating on and sticking out of a body of water like a path of rocks. As well as Depp and Mia Wasikowska, who plays the title role, many other main cast members are reprising their role from the original installment; Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway will be returning as the Red and White Queens, respectively.

The sequel has been in post-production since January, so perhaps Disney will unveil the first trailer at the D23 Expo this weekend.
