Obama returns from summer vacation with eye on busy fall
In the coming weeks, Obama will also be making what is likely his final trip to Asia as president to attend the Group of 20 summit in China and the US-ASEAN Summit and the East Asian Summit in Laos.

Obama will visit the state on Tuesday to survey the damage that has displaced tens of thousands of residents. He played numerous rounds of golf, his favorite athletic past-time, dined out often with family and friends and on Sunday went for a last-day-of-vacation hike with his wife.
Lawmakers will be in session for just a month before again taking off to campaign for November elections that include the entire House of Representatives and a third of the Senate as well as presidential elections. Republicans offered $1.1 billion and added provisions that Democrats objected to, including paying for the measure with cuts in Ebola funding and the Affordable Care Act.

Spokesman Josh Earnest said Louisianans were “not well served by a political discussion” surrounding Obama’s decision to continue his Martha’s Vineyard vacation instead of visiting the state last week.
Iran had paid $400 million in the 1970s for US military equipment, but the Iranian government was overthrown and the equipment wasn’t delivered.
The explanations have failed to satisfy critics.
House Speaker Paul Ryan said Obama has set a “dangerous precedent” and owes the public a ‘full accounting of his actions’. His job approval rating stands at 53 percent, compared with 42 percent disapproval. But Obama’s standing among independent voters has reached positive territory for the first time since December 2012. Independents had split 46 percent to 46 percent on the question in June.

After visiting Louisiana, the president heads to Nevada on August 31 to discuss environmental protection at the Lake Tahoe Summit. The next day, he is scheduled to fly to Midway Island, in the north Pacific, for a climate change event before opening the September 2-9 trip to China and Laos.
