Russian Aircraft Allowed to Refuel Only at Iran’s Hamadan Airbase – MP
“Further use of the Hamadan air base in the Islamic Republic of Iran by the Russian Aerospace Forces will be carried out on the basis of mutual agreements to fight terrorism and depending on the prevailing circumstances in Syria”, Reuters quoted Konashenkov as saying.

Uncertainty was also the master position in Moscow, where fears emanated about the renewal of conflicts between Russian Federation and Iran over the military operations in Syria.
Russian Federation reportedly ruffled feathers in Tehran when it announced last week that it had launched strikes on Syria from Hamedan air base in Iran, and said it had left the base on Sunday.
Russian authorities said their airstrikes from Iran eliminated major weapons depots, training compounds and command posts for the al-Nusra Syrian rebel group and IS fighters.
The U.S. State Department said on August 22 that it was not clear whether Russia’s use of the base had actually stopped. But while Britain withdrew, Russian Federation refused to leave, sparking the first global rebuke by the nascent United Nations Security Council in 1946. Dehghan over the weekend said Russia’s use of the air base was not their concern.
An agreement between the two countries over the issue is “only a matter of time”, Komoedov said.
State Department spokesman Mark Toner told a briefing that the United States was closely monitoring the cooperation between Russian Federation and Iran and “it’s not clear to us.whether their use of this air base has definitively stopped”.
“Iran has brought the powerful Russian Federation along… due to its need to cooperate with Syria” in the fight against jihadists, added Shamkhani.
Victor Mizin, a professor at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, Russia’s university for diplomats, said the symbolism of the air base deal had been important in Moscow.
