Tesla lays claim to world’s fastest production auto

Tesla Motors has announced a new 100kWh battery module that will help the Model S P100D hit 60 miles per hour in 2.5 seconds.

Tesla customers who have ordered P90D Ludicrous but haven’t received the delivery can now upgrade to P100D for $10,000.

Bearing the existing customers in mind, Tesla has announced an option to upgrade the battery packs of existing P90D Ludicrous vehicles to 10kWh. Because it is the first electric vehicle to break the 300-mile boundary, Tesla is again making strides in its industry.

Tesla, which this month posted a steeper-than-expected loss, is adding a new sedan auto to its sports line-up.

Tesla Motors has updated its four-door, all-electric saloon, the Model S. It now gets a 100 kWh battery pack in the top-end P100 D trim that has pumped up its range, speed, and acceleration figures. While the SUV is already the quickest, the larger battery pack allows it to set the bar even higher. They used a petrol engine making it easier to achieve such numbers but Tesla has beaten their records by going from zero to sixty in just 2.5 seconds.

Musk said that the drivetrains for both cars will remain the same, with only the larger capacity batteries being new.

Tesla will begin selling the quickest-accelerating vehicle in production, the Model S P100D, CEO Elon Musk said in a conference call.

The other model that is being released in Model X P100D.

On the other hand this Tesla Model S will be a factory produced vehicle which will be sold to the general public.

The Model X P100D will have a range of 289 miles/462 kilometres according to EPA tests.
