Delhi government offers promotion to Rio Olympics victor Sakshi Malik’s father

While this edition has not been as good has London in 2012, two medals in one week have boosted the country.

Indian cricketing great Sachin Tendulkar thanked the country for their support of the athletes who took part in the Olympics in Rio 2016.

After the state governments announced cash rewards, Air India, too, has made a decision to give free business class air tickets to the silver medallist P V Sindhu and bronze medallist Sakshi Malik across its network. Besides felicitating the grappler, Sisodia recommended the promotion of Sakshi’s father Subir Malik, who works as a conductor with the Delhi Transport Corporation.

“Sakshi and Sindhu have been the medallists for us and both displayed huge courage and determination during their competitions”, said chef de mission Rakesh Gupta.

On Friday, in a letter addressed to Sakshi, Managing Director of Air India Ashwani Lohan awarded her two business class round trips to two destinations of her choice.

Pullela Gopichand, who is being praised for both putting efforts in lifting Sindhu as well as badminton fraternity, can be seen sharing the frame with the two champions. After winning she told me that I fulfilled your wish and got the medal for the country, I was in tears.

Dutt, who endured an injury-plagued season a year ago, won a bronze in the 2012 London Olympics through repechage system.

This reward comes at the heels of other cash prizes by the UP and Haryana governments. “How I have missed you!”
