Here’s How the New Teslas Stack Up Against Bugatti, Lamborghini, and Ferrari
The other model that is being released in Model X P100D. Not only P100D, Tesla has said that the battery pack would also be available for performance version of the Model X sport utility vehicle.

First, it gives credibility to Musk’s notable prediction last year that Tesla expects to increase pack capacity by roughly 5% per year on average. If you already have a P90D sitting in your garage, you can upgrade, too, but it’ll cost you the full $20,000 because, as Tesla explains, the company will have to recycle your 90 kWh battery pack. It can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 2.9 seconds.
Musk has also affirmed that Model S and X vehicles with the upgraded batteries will help funding the more affordable Model 3, which is still in development.
The new 100 kilowatt hour battery pack means high end versions of the Model S sedan, called the P 100D, will be the world’s fastest accelerating auto in production, the Silicon Valley automaker said.
The P110D has a Ludicrous speed mode, which, thanks to the new battery, allows the auto to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 2.5 seconds. The previous top range was 294 miles.
Karl Brauer, senior editor at Kelley Blue Book, pointed out that $20,000 cost to existing Telsa customers could cover the cost of a whole new auto in the U.S. Kelley Blue Book is an influential U.S. vehicle valuation and automotive research company. “By developing vehicles with longer-range batteries, Tesla is moving the ball forward not just for itself but the entire EV industry”.

Buried somewhere between longer range and furious acceleration (and resulting “meh” by the collective automotive journalism brain trust), Tesla on Tuesday nudged up the price of its Autopilot feature. With the 100 kWh battery pack, though, that figure edges up to 315 miles. For example, perhaps Tesla’s module and pack architecture discoveries with its new 100 kWh battery mean the company can now offer higher driving range upgrade options for Model 3 than was previously possible.
