GOP vice presidential candidate Mike Pence got a haircut at a black-owned barbershop on Tuesday between campaign stops in the Philadelphia area.
In recent days, Trump has also made overtures to black voters in the state, where he struggles to maintain support. As Pence sat down in the chair, the two men chatted about football, family, and marriage.
According to Philadelphia Magazine, Pence went to Jones Barber & Hairstyles for a haircut, a visit that was captured on video by CNN.
Pence says 7 million more people living in poverty today, than when Barack Obama became president.
Jones said he is undecided in the November election, but will start watching more politics now that he’s met one of the candidates.
“Donald Trump will support our troops, he will support our military, and restore the arsenals of democracy”.
Pence spoke to around 150 invited guests at the 115-year-old company. It is a background that he and Trump can relate to, Pence said. “We need to think about what that means for the God-given liberties that are enshrined in our Constitution and our founding documents”, he said.
A Trump presidency will protect the country, rid the world of ISIS, cut taxes, grow the economy, repeal Obamacare, cut regulations and bring trade reform and energy reform, he said.
The Pottstown resident said Trump could “tone back a little bit” on some of his more eyebrow raising comments and not get involved in other controversial issues, but he applauded his trade policies.
Pence said he was grateful the crowd came to see him despite the weather.
