Barbra Streisand called Apple CEO because Siri mispronounced her name

The legendary singer did just that when she finally got sick of hearing her voice being mispronounced by Apple’s Siri software, which acts as a kind of electronic personal assistant, answering questions and making recommendations. At least, we have an idea on when Siri will start pronouncing her name in the correct manner.

Apple usually releases the iOS update a week after the launch of the new iPhone which leaves us to wonder about why this delay is happening.

“Barbra Streisand”, Siri replies, but she flubs the last name: “Stry-zand”, Siri pronounces it.

The artist did not waste any time and went straight to the head of Apple, Tim Cook. In a direct phone call with Apple’s CEO, Streisand addressed the issue that has been causing her grief for years.

Streisand has complained to Cook about Siri.

The last day of September? The event with Streisand, hosted by Patrick Wilson, will air September 7 at 5 PM ET on The Barbra Streisand Channel.

We will go on a limb here and speculate that Apple told Streisand that the update should be live before September ends. She made them fix Siri. She also signed 50 studio albums and created the term “Streisand effect”, although the latter was mostly unintentional.
