Black Republicans: Trump needs to take his outreach to inner cities
After a tumultuous stretch of gaffes and falling poll numbers for Donald Trump, top GOP campaign and party officials insisted Sunday that their presidential nominee is getting back on track and will catch up with Democrat Hillary Clinton by around Labor Day. I mean, it’s obvious what’s going on. This assessment, while encouragingly on-point, presents a serious obstacle to the Trump campaign.

Last week, Trump dismissed Paul Manafort, the veteran Republican strategist, who tried to tame Trump, amid negative press about Manafort receiving over $12 million in lobbying payments for pro-Russia leaders in Ukraine.
“Donald Trump has been disciplined and mature”.
In the Post-ABC poll conducted earlier this month, Hillary Clinton led Trump 50 percent to 42 percent.
Yet during a made-for-television town hall on the Fox News Channel Tuesday night, Trump suggested he might be softening his tone.
Trump has also paid his golf courses and restaurants over $200,000 since beginning fundraising efforts and the individual payment amounts appear to be generally higher than they were when he was loaning money to his campaign himself.
Trump replaced Manafort with anti-establishment Republican pollster Kellyanne Conway as his new campaign manager and named Breitbart News’ Chairman Stephen Bannon as CEO of his campaign.
In other words, for some reason, the Trump campaign headquarters’ rent exploded at the same time its actual need for facilities was reduced.
Meanwhile, many other black voters say the NY billionaire’s outreach is misguided or even offensive, and they say they still plan to back Democrat Hillary Clinton.
“I think what you are watching is a testing of the temperature of the water”, Navarro said.
After acknowledging that his assessment of Trump and the future of the GOP might be the “death blow” to his political future, Peake writes, “The reality is that Donald Trump as our nominee makes me incredibly fearful for the future of our party”.
The Commission on Presidential Debates says candidates must have the support of at least 15 percent of voters to be included in the three debates.
When Carson first endorsed Trump during the primaries they often touted their plans to reach out to minority voters and campaign in areas where Republicans don’t usually campaign, Williams said, and Trump felt like he already had a base of support within the black community and that his business background had given him some credibility there.
“Two million more Latinos will vote this election cycle than in 2012 and let me assure you they will vote in Florida, they will vote in Colorado, Ohio and Pennsylvania … in the battle states across the country, they will vote”, he said on the call. It also notes that Trump made a $2 million personal donation last month, which more than covers the rent.

In a speech Monday in Akron, Ohio, to a mostly white audience, Trump said inner cities where many African American and Hispanic voters live are worse than war zones. “She still has a fight ahead of her going into November”. Almost 80 percent of Detroiters surveyed for the poll had a favorable view of Clinton.
